In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Troy; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in New York are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–9:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Wednesday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (518) 203-7363. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is sichuanwokny.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 260 reviews, which is a strong result for a chinese restaurant in Troy and suggests consistent service.
Troy is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Troy is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Don’t let the simple, unpretentious decor fool you—the interior is very well maintained and clean, and the food here is absolutely phenomenal. This place is a true hidden gem for authentic Sichuan cuisine. Every dish we ordered tasted amazing and had incredible, traditional flavor. The Cumin Lamb and Chongqing Chicken were absolute standouts and easily our favorites of the night. We loved the meal so much that we actually ordered takeout right then and there to have for our next meal! If you are looking for high-quality, authentic flavors, do not pass this place up. We will definitely be regular customers!

This is by far some of the best food in the Troy area. After our first time there we talked about the food that whole week afterwards and so we had to go back the following weekend and now it’s become our weekly Sunday place to eat! This visit we ordered the dumplings in chili oil, the shredded beef and long peppers (which I ordered mild as this meal comes pretty spicy), and the Hunan beef. One thing I like is that you can adjust how spicy you would like each meal to be as sichuan food can be a bit spicy for me so keep that in mind when ordering. Overall I highly recommend Sichuan Wok and we will definitely be back!

Been there multiple times. The food is consistently great. Spicy is spicy, so be aware of what you are asking for. The waiting time is reasonable. The space is modest, but the food and the people make up for it. The people are very friendly and care about you enjoying your meal! Highly recommended. I'm going back for sure!

I had such an amazing experience at Sichuan Wok! What better way to celebrate AAPI Month than sharing authentic Sichuan food with loved ones? The portion sizes were generous, and the mala spice had the perfect intense, numbing kick. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles, mapo tofu, cumin lamb, and hot & spicy shredded potatoes — every dish was packed with flavor and tasted incredibly fresh. Nova, the owner, was so kind and thoughtful. She even brought us cooling teas to help balance the heat and numbness from the spice, which made the experience feel extra special and welcoming. They currently only have one chef, so be patient if there’s a wait — it’s absolutely worth it. The chef has over 25 years of experience cooking authentic Chinese cuisine, and it truly shows in every dish. Such a memorable dining experience. Thank you, Nova!

The food was amazing! The spicy Chicken is worth the trip in itself. The noodles and dumplings are made in house and you can taste the difference! There is truly something for everyone on the menu and it is all so flavorful and spiced perfectly. The atmosphere was so relaxing and I loved the wallpaper. Service was great - I will be adding this to my restaurant rotation.
